Welcome to Our Land of Promise!

At Our Land of Promise, our mission is to honor and preserve the rich African American heritage of Berea, Kentucky. We are dedicated to restoring forgotten histories, celebrating the contributions of our community elders, and promoting understanding among diverse backgrounds. 

Our Story: What began as a grassroots effort has evolved into a committed nonprofit organization, driven by the collective support of our community. The journey started with initiatives like collecting oral narrations, cleanup of the Farristown cemetery and the construction of the Historic Farristown Welcome sign. As time passed it was realized that representing the significance of historic Black Berea was needed.
